Great North Run 2008

Back

The Great North Run sees a massive catering operation swing into action with dozens of charity organisers looking to cater for their runners and supporters. Last year for the first time we helped look after two of the country's best known charities, giving a great service at a low cost. Sandwiches, Fruit, Crisps, Chocolate, Juice, Water, Pop, even tea, coffee and milk to keep everybody fed and warm throughout the day. Not just dropping off the boxes of crisps and bananas etc and leaving, we organised, quality checked and displayed bananas, crisps and chocolate bars, adding to the professional set up of the Charities areas. We also stayed on site through the day providing backup with spare cups, extra milk, water containers etc. - even giving away 100's of extra cups to another less fortunate charity who's caterers had forgotten to leave theirs. One of the biggest accolades of the day for us came when two local authority officers circulated the whole village through dozens of charities and proclaimed that when temperature checked - we had the freshest sandwich fillings so far found in the village. This was due to us not leaving our sandwiches on site when the vehicle access was closed early in the morning like many seemed to do but we setup all non perishable items early and then parked up one of our refrigerated vehicles nearby, keeping all perishable foods chilled until just before needed when we delivered them fresh by hand - just before the environmental health inspectors arrived. This is not what seemed the norm but we take pride in our produce and it was the only sure way to maintain our quality. So if your organising catering for your charity this year, then get in touch and we could include you too this time around.
